BC Blueberries NYE Cheers

With the holidays upon us and time out of office about to hit, we can get stuck wondering what to bake, cook, and serve to family and visitors. When squeezed in between attending parties, visiting family, and rushing to and from the mall, your time in the kitchen is already limited.

To spare you the hours of scrolling your Pinterest board, try BC blueberry -inspired recipes that are perfect for all holiday occasions and support our local economy.

Frozen BC blueberries are a great secret ingredient to transform party drinks, a New Year’s Day breakfast dish, or winter treats like pies, tarts and bars. Frozen at the peak of harvest, BC blueberries are available year-round. These power berries do double duty: not only are they delicious, but they are also additive free, as well as a high source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Easy Recipes with Frozen BC Blueberries Get you Through the Holiday Crunch

With the first day of winter on December 21st, stay warm with a slice of Blueberry Lattice Top Pie. This holiday favourite filled with a frozen BC blueberry filling and topped off with a scoop of ice cream is sure to be a new December tradition.

For party time, spruce up a classic Mojito with frozen BC blueberries. This Blueberry Mojito recipe just needs a little bit of lemonade, soda, rum, mint, and lime to accompany the blueberry flavour. For underage party guests, try swapping out the alcohol for ginger ale and carbonated water to make a Blueberry “Mojito” Spritzer.

Cooking on New Year’s Day can become a chore, so ring in the New Year with quick, guilt-free recipes. To avoid making breakfast, bake some Healthy Blueberry Muffins a few days before. With superfoods like frozen BC blueberries, Greek yogurt and whole grains, these muffins are packed full of vitamins and fiber.

Make breakfast a little more filling: throw frozen BC blueberries, bananas, almond milk and a few other ingredients into the blender for a Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie.

Let us know your tips to get through the holiday crunch. For more great ideas on how to use BC blueberries, visit the Recipes section of our website.

About The BC Blueberry Council
