Wondering whether COVID-19 can be transmitted through food? Not to worry.

B.C. Provincial Health Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry says: "Of note, there are no health concerns related to the consumption of fruit. However, people are reminded to always wash fruit and vegetables before eating them." Learn more.

At this time, there have been no reported cases of food or food packaging being associated with the transmission of COVID-19. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has strong measures in place to ensure the safety of Canada's food supply. If the CFIA becomes aware of a potential food safety risk, appropriate actions will be taken to protect Canada's food supply and to inform the public and industry.
