Celebrating Canada Day with BC Blueberries

Celebrate Canada Day with Blueberry Pancakes

On July 1, Canada will celebrate the 150th anniversary of our country’s confederation with fireworks, parties, picnics and barbecues. As Canada’s most exported fruit, blueberries make the perfect addition to your tables, whether in your desserts, the punch bowl or even on the grill! And by adding blueberries to the menu, you’ll be supporting local farmers as well – how Canadian is that!

If you’re starting the day with a family brunch, consider baking up one of our most popular recipes, a Blueberry Bacon Bread Pudding! You can make it the day before and just pop it in the oven before guests arrive to minimise time in the kitchen, and served with maple syrup, it’s a patriotic start to the day.

If you’re planning a picnic or barbecue, a Blueberry, Watermelon, Cucumber and Feta Salad is a refreshing side that both kids and adults will enjoy. A Blueberry Superfood Salad is a hearty option that also makes a satisfying entrée for your vegetarian guests. A Blueberry Barbecue Sauce is always a hit, whether you’re grilling ribs, chicken or even tofu!

Why not toast our great land with a blueberry beverage? This Blueberry Punch can be made in alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions, and easily caters for a crowd. Or make a batch of Blueberry Pink Lemonade for the littles, while the grown-ups enjoy a Blueberry White Wine Sangria.

No Canada Day dessert table should be without these little blue antioxidant powerhouses either! Bake a classic Blueberry Lattice Top Pie, or a no-bake Blueberry Lemon Pudding Pie.  For a healthy take on a quintessentially Canadian treat, try some Baked Blueberry Doughnuts with a Maple Glaze. And a batch of Blueberry Jam Almond Bars is perfect for the picnic blanket.

However you decide to celebrate Canada Day, you’ll find over 100 ideas in our Recipes section, and make sure you sign up for our newsletter so you never miss out on blueberry inspiration!
